On March 9, the community gathered at Angelo’s Pizzeria in Davie, Florida for a meaningful evening of food and fundraising. Located at 3325 S. University Drive, directly across from Nova Southeastern University (NSU) and next to Buca di Beppo, the local restaurant hosted a pizza fundraiser benefiting blood cancer research.

During the event, 20% of the proceeds were donated to support Blood Cancer United, formerly known as the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, helping fund research, patient support programs, and ongoing efforts to fight blood cancers.

The fundraiser was part of a Student Visionary campaign team led by Laurie Spector, bringing the community together to raise awareness and support for this important cause.

Events like this highlight how local businesses and community members can work together to make a real difference. Angelo’s Pizzeria, a favorite restaurant in the Davie and Nova Southeastern University area, generously opened its doors for supporters to dine in, order takeout, or pick up dinner while contributing to the fundraiser.

I stopped by during the event and ordered chicken piccata with a salad to take home, and it was absolutely delicious — and there was so much food! It felt great knowing that dinner was also helping support an important mission.

A big thank you to Angelo’s Pizzeria, Laurie Spector and the Student Visionary team, and everyone who stopped by, ordered takeout, or helped spread the word. Community events like this remind us how powerful it can be when people come together for a cause.

If you’re ever near University Drive in Davie or visiting Nova Southeastern University, Angelo’s Pizzeria is definitely worth a stop.
